Sisters together Happy Families

The Quirky Girls are mixed media pieces. They have on their posh outfits for the day ahead, whether it's dog walking, going to the hairdresser or meeting up with friends.

2 of the girls are wrapped up cosy for taking their dogs for a walk in the Scottish weather.
One of the ladies has 2 birds landing on her head and she is wondering where the tweeting is coming from! They have friendly competition as to who has the whackiest hat!

Linda has her shopping bag full of bones from the butcher and her dog Tillie is looking forward to having a munch on them!

Sweet heart and posh dogs

A heart made from fabric and paper flowers fastened with a little button and mounted onto a piece of lace which is then glues onto a painted wooden block.
A red paper ribbon completes this simple but effective piece.

The back has typewritten I love you words on paper dyed to look old.

Placed on my dresser to show size. I think it looks rather sweet in amongst my eclectic collection.

Hiya, good looking. Archie posing in a new harness. He is one smart dog.

Lucy looking very pretty in pink.

2 posh girls Lavinia and Sophia

These two girls were made from paper clay with paper hair. Lavinia is the brown eyed beauty who is looking a bit shy. She has a tiara and necklace to match her hair and sits on a wooden plinth.

Sophia her sister has a nice blue hairdo, also with a tiara and matching necklace. She has lovely blue eyes.

Two sisters together.

One day I will make a doll like this with a body attached.....eventually!

Meanwhile, in the doggy world. my eldest daughter has drawn the trio in coloured pencil, when they were puppies. Here they are grown up with their portraits. awww so cute.

Owls and pups

Here we are again. Not sure if my blog has any followers any more, but never mind.

Today I am posting photos of my daughters work. This is an owl and stand that she chainsawed from one piece of sycamore wood. How she looked at the stump of wood and saw an owl is beyond me!

She then painted and varnished him. He is very tactile and you want to stroke him. Those eyes are wonderful. We have a few owls around our area that perch on the fence posts. This one is off to a dear friend of hers.....me jealous, of course I am!! haha

She also drew these portraits of the 'hooligans' when they were pups. Just so cute.

Frank the Fox head

I've finished Frank the Fox head. He was made from a piece of cotton sheeting that I had and hand painted then mounted onto a piece of pine wood.

He has whiskers that twitch when you're not looking!

Beady eyes watching everything that's going on.

Frank is super handsome, just look at those ears!

It's a bit ironic that he is hanging amongst the hares....haha

Lucy in her super smart knitted jumper. So cold here that she will get a lot of use from it.

Alf the Owl

A couple of weeks ago it was pretty chilly up in my corner of Scotland. Need to do a count up of scarfs and hats and make sure the gloves are still in pairs.

In the meantime Alf popped on his own hand knitted gear as he heard the wind howling around outside/ He certainly looks nice and cosy.

Still on owls, but the last for a while, most possibly. A very cute, wooden, hand painted owl key ring.
One side has full owl body and reverse has owl eyes......watching you!\

This what I feel like doing just now. although Bobby's rather hunched up position looks like he will need unkinking when he wakes up!!

Grey and brown barn owl brooches.

This week I have finally upcycled my collection of small flat stones found in the garden and on walks with the dogs. Painted them with acrylic paints and made a collection of barn owl brooches. Some are grey and some are brown.

Now, who doesn't love an owl.....or three! They are super cute and look so nice fastened on a coat, scarf, or when winter comes (and it will!) on a hat. After painting they were varnished to give a gloss finish and to protect them.
I've done a couple of more projects but will leave them for another day.

What morning already, where is our breakfast in bed!

Lucy likes it best when she can have the bed to herself!

A lace memory book

I recently made a little memory book for my sister out of......toilet/kitchen roll tubes! They were squished flat and then I wrapped them in wallpaper to cover the cardboard.
This is the front with embroidery, beads and lace.

                                                   A couple of pages.

Tags to insert into the ends of the tubes.

Filled with old photos and memories.

                                                                 The back of the book.

It was received very well. Might have to do another one as it was really enjoyable to make. Also helped to de-stash some of my overflowing drawers!

I will leave you with this lovely little portrait of little Lucy that my daughter drew using biro and coloured pencils. (It took over 20 photos to get one of Lucy sitting with the picture, such a fiddgety bottom!)

Four friends together

I have finished all four of the paper mache/paper clay busts that I was making and here they are;

Reg the biker/car enthusiast, Lavinia the librarian, Dara the fisherman and Holly the swimmer.
Dara still needs some tweaking and I might make him a boat to sail in. They are happy sitting on the window sill chatting away.

Not to be outdone here are our three doggies posing for the camera, they don't all quite fit on the cushion!...

Little Lucy in her pyjamas all ready for bed!

Reg the biker

Hello everyone.
Today I am introducing you to Reg, he is a vintage biker and car enthusiast and has the headgear to go with it. He is never seen without his suit and tie and flower in his button hole. A proper old fashioned gentleman.

Like Holly the simmer, Reg is made from paper mach and paper clay. I have a couple of other busts in the pipe line so will show them to you at some time.

Lucy is getting used to having bows in her hair and thinks this one will be a good one to chew when my back is turned!!

Holly the swimmer

I had an enjoyable time playing about with paper mache and paper clay. Starting with an 'egg' shaped ball and then a paper mache bust.

Then covering all of it with paper clay and hand sanding it smooth. That takes a bit of time but well worth it.

And here is Holly in her swimming costume. She went for a dip in the sea and came out with a blue fish on her head, you don't get that very often!!

She has a nice curly perm

Sitting on the bathroom window sill

Wonder what the next girlie will look like? She is patiently waiting in the wings so might be finished soon for her reveal.

Can't sign off without revealing our latest member of the household.....little Lucy. She thinks she is the boss!
