Alf the Owl

A couple of weeks ago it was pretty chilly up in my corner of Scotland. Need to do a count up of scarfs and hats and make sure the gloves are still in pairs.

In the meantime Alf popped on his own hand knitted gear as he heard the wind howling around outside/ He certainly looks nice and cosy.

Still on owls, but the last for a while, most possibly. A very cute, wooden, hand painted owl key ring.
One side has full owl body and reverse has owl eyes......watching you!\

This what I feel like doing just now. although Bobby's rather hunched up position looks like he will need unkinking when he wakes up!!

Grey and brown barn owl brooches.

This week I have finally upcycled my collection of small flat stones found in the garden and on walks with the dogs. Painted them with acrylic paints and made a collection of barn owl brooches. Some are grey and some are brown.

Now, who doesn't love an owl.....or three! They are super cute and look so nice fastened on a coat, scarf, or when winter comes (and it will!) on a hat. After painting they were varnished to give a gloss finish and to protect them.
I've done a couple of more projects but will leave them for another day.

What morning already, where is our breakfast in bed!

Lucy likes it best when she can have the bed to herself!

A lace memory book

I recently made a little memory book for my sister out of......toilet/kitchen roll tubes! They were squished flat and then I wrapped them in wallpaper to cover the cardboard.
This is the front with embroidery, beads and lace.

                                                   A couple of pages.

Tags to insert into the ends of the tubes.

Filled with old photos and memories.

                                                                 The back of the book.

It was received very well. Might have to do another one as it was really enjoyable to make. Also helped to de-stash some of my overflowing drawers!

I will leave you with this lovely little portrait of little Lucy that my daughter drew using biro and coloured pencils. (It took over 20 photos to get one of Lucy sitting with the picture, such a fiddgety bottom!)

Four friends together

I have finished all four of the paper mache/paper clay busts that I was making and here they are;

Reg the biker/car enthusiast, Lavinia the librarian, Dara the fisherman and Holly the swimmer.
Dara still needs some tweaking and I might make him a boat to sail in. They are happy sitting on the window sill chatting away.

Not to be outdone here are our three doggies posing for the camera, they don't all quite fit on the cushion!...

Reg the biker

Hello everyone.
Today I am introducing you to Reg, he is a vintage biker and car enthusiast and has the headgear to go with it. He is never seen without his suit and tie and flower in his button hole. A proper old fashioned gentleman.

Like Holly the simmer, Reg is made from paper mach and paper clay. I have a couple of other busts in the pipe line so will show them to you at some time.

Lucy is getting used to having bows in her hair and thinks this one will be a good one to chew when my back is turned!!

Holly the swimmer

I had an enjoyable time playing about with paper mache and paper clay. Starting with an 'egg' shaped ball and then a paper mache bust.

Then covering all of it with paper clay and hand sanding it smooth. That takes a bit of time but well worth it.

And here is Holly in her swimming costume. She went for a dip in the sea and came out with a blue fish on her head, you don't get that very often!!

She has a nice curly perm

Sitting on the bathroom window sill

Wonder what the next girlie will look like? She is patiently waiting in the wings so might be finished soon for her reveal.

Can't sign off without revealing our latest member of the household.....little Lucy. She thinks she is the boss!

'Ladies that Lunch' First lady in the series.

You might have thought I've done a runner.....but I'm still here!!

If you are still following along, here is my latest makes which are mixed media ornamental dolls.
This is the first one I made.
How do you like her mop of ginger hair?

Fancy ribbon and clip.

This little girl is made from paper clay, wood and paper. She has a fancy necklace and even an umbrella for those rainy days!

Just look at those painted nails which match the red of her designer handbag and a gold ring. Her mary jane blue shoes complete her outfit. Hope you like her she went off to a new home very quickly. Next time I will show you her friends.

Of course, we can't forget Archie and Bobby who have now been joined by Lucy, who is a Yorkie. Archie ignores her and Bobby thinks he has his own wind up toy. They just love to chase each other. Lucy had her first walk in the big wide world today and loved it.
