2 Cheeky Chappies and a field of cacti.

Another week has flown past and here is my Sunday update of some things that have been made here in my little Highland Cottage.

There hasn't been a post with any monkeys in lately so can't have that!
Here are 2 little sock monkeys that are so bright and cheerful and very cute.
Bright red/orange Oswald and his little friend, Bluey. These are made with kiddies socks and have felt eyes so are more little kiddie friendly than my larger ones which have button eyes.

Although we have had a severe shortage of the sun, look what I have been growing.....a field of cacti!!
Good job they need neither the sun or water so stress free growing. :0D
I have learnt how to make pin toppers (if that's what they are called) to fancy up a pin cushion. I didn't think to take a seperate photo so you can't see them to well. But basically it's an extra long pin and then glue beads from various broken necklaces and I have to say it looks very effective.
Head Honcho made a little tray for them to stand in so they look like they're from a garden centre!

I'm still plodding on with hand quilting my quilt as I've added an extra pattern to the sashing.

Let's hope we will have some good weather very soon, or my seeds will start to sprout in the packet.  I've made some green covers out of some water bottles (didnt have any clear ones so I hope that's OK) for some lettuces that are in desperate need to go in the ground as they have outgrown their container. But at the moment the wind is very chilly and it doesn't make me want to leave the warmth to go out and dig. (I'm a very fair weather gardener!)

Here are the linky parties that I will be adding to over the week.

  1. The cactuses look great in their special box.

  2. Your cacti are lovely as well as your stick pins. Have quite gotten into making stick pins myself and have entered a few swaps with them. Very addictive. Love your two little monkeys.Their mouths are sew cute. (Sorry couldn't resist that). Hugs Mrs A.
p.s. The Page boy managed admirally to carry the ring cushion down the aisle but when the Vicaqr untied them and placed on her order of service she promptly dropped them onto the floor where they were found 5 mins later under the hem of her gown!

  3. Very cute. I love the stripes.

  4. I love the monkeys, they're so bold and bright!

The box really sets off the cacti. Was it you or Head Honcho who painted the front?

  5. They are all lovely, but the cacti make me smile. So cute!

  6. The sock monkeys are really cute :)

  7. Oswald and Bluey are so gorgeous - especially Oswald as I love red. The field of cacti look really great - really like your stick pins too. Hope you have a good week.

  8. those little monkeys are adorable! the felt eyes seem a good idea as they would be GREAT for kids!

Your cacti are fab too - i love the pin toppers you've added they look really fun!

I'm a fair weather gardener too :) our seedlings have been slow to sprout this year because of the horrible weather so i guess they'e fair weather seedlings! :)

  9. Loving them all. Love the little "garden centre" tray. I'm a fair weather gardener too, and at this rate there will be no gardening at all this year! (have just edited the link for your blog as it was linking to an old post for some reason - it now links to this post) x

  10. I love the pin cushion cactus idea :-) and fab way of displaying them! x

  11. I really love your cacti :) and have never thought of making my own pin toppers and really fancy having a go at those!

  12. I have a few children who would be delighted with the monkeys - they are so attractive. One would also like the cacti and I am guessing that they are easier to keep than real ones (we tend to kill them!).

  13. I love your cacti they are so funky and bring a cute factor to an otherwise prickly product!! X

  14. It's always lovely to pop in here Penny. I'm loving your monograms and those cacti are fab - and with a proper tray too!

  15. Thanks so much for linking up to Creative Thursday this week. I can't wait to see what you link up next week. Have a wonderful weekend.

  16. What fun monkeys and cacti!! I love the vibrant colors.
