Fake Flowers
I do like real flowers the best but fake flowers have a place. One night when I had twitchy fingers I made a load of them! Red poppies and pink peonies. The cup and saucer was a c.shop find for 75p which was a bargain, its covered in pink roses. The glass handbag was from TKmax (think they also sell them in Home Sense) and the red vase was a present from our g'daughter for our ruby anniversary.
They are made out of tissue paper and fill a gap while the real flowers grow!

painted cupboard
Having a look through old photos and came across all my re-vamped furniture. We had a lot of very old pre-war stuff as we couldn't afford owt else. Anyway over time they all got a lick of paint so they looked a bit prettier. This one was an old record cupboard and dd had it as a bedside table for many years, then it was used for storing loo rolls in. It did it's service and then somebody else got it so I hope it's still going strong. |

Teeny Tiny Sock Monkey
Once again rubbish weather so got all the crafty stuff out once more and this is what I came up with.
Teen Tiny Titch. He has got his own pea leaf bed and little cover with embroidery. There is a £2 coin next to him so you can see his size which is 3" (8cm)
In his comfy bed.
Toddling!
With his two big brothers.

Crochet necklace
When the weather outside is horrible what better excuse than to cosy upto the fire and get cracking on some crafting! Here is a crochet necklace that I made. (I believe its called lariet which means without a clasp). It has a small pearl in each flower centre and the bigger flowers are interspersed with a smaller one.
A different way to wear it.
It could also be hung around a picture frame or mirror or draped over a bedhead (see multi uses!)
I wanted to do something with my twitchy fingers but didn't fancy sewing or knitting so found a couple of left over balls of cotton that I used for the crochet bedspread further down in the blog, and made the flower up as I went along. After a few false starts eventually made up a pattern for the flower. The 'tassels' on each end of the necklace have 4 pearly beads sewn on. Hope you like it.

Patchwork crazy
I put the patchwork throw/quilt on Ebay that I showed a few posts down and have a bid on it, (and a few watchers) now I'm sad that it's going! I hope I don't suddenly think so many years down the line that patchwork would have just suited that space! :0D
This sweet little cupcake was a freebie gift in a cross stitch mag. As my daughter's wedding anni was coming up thought it would make a nice card. She likes baking and he likes eating....win win!

Suuny Day
Woke up to a lovely sunny day, havn't poked head out of door yet but from inside it feels great. So as we need to empty contents of the freezer before buying anything more and bolstered by the sun streaming through, yep, I defrosted the freezer (shudder). Yesterday hubs found a 6 month packet bacon which he ate and is OK. Found some bits and bobs that were forgotton about and over the next couple of days we are going to have some very strange meals! BUT at least the freezer is cleared nearly. Determined not to go shopping til Monday so I hope I can keep to that as I wan't to be ultra frugal!
Was watching late night tv due to insomnia and one of the programmes was about bad low fat dinners. Was very enlightening, the presenter was on them for 1 month and she put on 3lbs! Also one of the chemist mentioned E920 being made of duck feathers.......WHAT....so of course had to look it up. I look at bread with a certain amount of suspicion now! What on earth goes through manufacturers minds thinking we would like all sorts of strange stuff in our food. (Was thinking not good for those on a strict vegatarian or vegan diet) It does say in one google info site they don't use it now, but they don't have to label it even if they do. Well, I have to say that my toast still tasted good!!!

Home made wine
Does anybody out there make there own home-made wines? This is the last of my haul. I am now hanging up the demi johns and passing the baton over to my s-i-law as he is very keen on carrying on with it. Although I will probably do some rhubarb wine as we have so much of it, and there is only so much pies and crumbles you can eat in a year! (and giving bundles away as well) this flavour seems to be an all round winner. Over the years have made carrot, beetroot, gorse (yuk), apple, mixed fruit, peach, potato (this tastes like whiskey) and generally anything thats going.
This little group are from 2008-2010. The book that I use for my wines is an old one that uses just fruit, sugar, yeast and wine. I think it's called 'A sip of country wine' (But said s-i-law has the book so can't check) None of your stabilisers/cadem tablets etc in this book. We used baby Milton for sterilizing (or Tesco's own make) We arn't big wine drinkers so we wont be too sad to see it all go.....and we can always cadge a bottle or three of said s-i-l!
Another s-i-law has devised his own money saving wine which is; teaspoon of yeast, 1 kilo sugar dissolved in some hot water, poured into a demijohn and then topped up with water with the yeast added. Put on the stopper and leave to clear and stop bubbling (about 2 weeks but best left longer as he found it too sweet first time around) then when he fancies a drink of wine he pours some of this into glass and then adds his own flavouring i.e. blackcurrant/orange/lemon/strawberry cordial. I havn't tasted it myself so can't vouch for it, but they like it and it and they say it does taste like wine.....can anybody do cheaper than that!!

I love mixing paint and embroidery together, ideas are endless. This one is a mix of paints and machine and hand embroidery, the picture is one I copied from a library book. Found an old frame in the garage and a gold mount finishes it off.
On a different note I have now joined facebook, not sure what I'm doing yet but sure I will learn.....hope so anyway!!
